PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and properly perform the motion of a parking lock even at the occurrence of trouble such as a failure of a power source, in a parking lock mechanism of a shift-by-wire type.SOLUTION: A parking lock mechanism has: a parking gear (24) which is arranged on a rotating shaft (54A) for transmitting drive forces to drive wheels (W) of a vehicle (50); an engagement member (26) which can bring about an engagement state (P) engaged with the parking gear (24), and a non-engagement state (notP) separating from the parking gear (24); an energization member (27) which energizes the engagement member (26) to a side being the engagement state (P); an actuator part (40) which advances and retreats for operating the engagement member (26); and a control part (51) which controls the actuator part (40) by electricity-carrying control. The control part (51) brings the engagement member (26) into the non-engagement state (notP) by carrying electricity to the actuator part (40).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
