PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a position of a substance, in a substance detection device which is mounted to a vehicle.SOLUTION: In a collision alleviation device, it is determined whether or not a first substance which is detected by an electromagnetic wave sensor for detecting a position of a substance by transmitting and receiving an electromagnetic wave, and a second substance which is detected by an image sensor for detecting a position of a substance by image-processing an imaged image are the same substance (S160). Then, in the same substance which is determined to be the same in the first substance and the second substance, a detection result of the first substance is employed to a distance up to a Y-coordinate in an XY-plane, or to the same substance, and a detection result of the second substance is employed to an orientation of the same substance with respect to an X-coordinate in the XY-plane, or to a reference direction, and a position of the same substance is specified (S180).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】車両に搭載される物体検出装置において、物体の位置をより精度よく検出できるようにする。【解決手段】衝突軽減装置においては、電磁波を送受信することによって物体の位置を検出する電磁波センサによって検出された第1物体と、撮像画像を画像処理することによって物体の位置を検出する画像センサによって検出された第2物体とが同一の物体であるか否かを判定する(S160)。そして、第1物体と第2物体とが同一の物体であると判定された同一物体について、XY平面におけるY座標または同一物体までの距離については第1物体の検出結果を採用し、XY平面におけるX座標または基準方向に対する同一物体の方位については第2物体の検出結果を採用することによって、同一物体の位置を特定する(S180)。【選択図】図2
