The detection unit detects a candidate area in which a water drop is estimated to exist in the captured image based on matching result of each pixel converted into a predetermined data format based on edge information extracted by the extraction unit with a template in the data format that shows water drops, In addition, the detection unit calculates a number of times that the template matches the template for a predetermined region along the contour of the candidate area based on the matching result, and excludes from the candidate areas a candidate that meets a predetermined exclusion condition based on the number of times.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2

    【課題】路面反射を水滴として誤検出してしまうのを抑制し、検出精度を高めること。【解決手段】実施形態に係る付着物検出装置は、抽出部と、検出部とを備える。抽出部は、撮像装置によって撮像された撮像画像に含まれる各画素のエッジ情報を抽出する。検出部は、抽出部によって抽出されたエッジ情報に基づいて所定のデータ形式に変換された各画素と、水滴を示す当該データ形式のテンプレートとのマッチング結果に基づき、撮像画像中において水滴が存在すると推定される候補エリアを検出する。また、検出部は、候補エリアの輪郭に沿った所定の領域につき、テンプレートと一致した回数をマッチング結果に基づいて算出し、候補エリアのうちから、上記回数に基づく所定の除外条件に該当する候補エリアを除外する。【選択図】図2
