PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid electric vehicle capable of suppressing the occurrence of switching shock if the hybrid electric vehicle is switched from a neutral range state to a drive running state.SOLUTION: If there is a request of switchover from a neutral range state to a vehicle drive and running state when a vehicle is stopped or running, a hybrid running mode or a motor-generator running mode is selected in response to the engagement of one engagement element out of the plurality of engagement elements. In a state of actuating an engine 12, a gear ratio is set so as to be able to easily match an engine revolving speed and to cause a smaller engagement shock in a hybrid running mode in which a transmission functions as an electric continuously variable transmission. In a state of not actuating the engine 12, the mode is set to the motor-generator running mode that does not need to match the revolving speed of the engine 12 so as to be able to appropriately suppress the occurrence of an engagement shock at a time of switchover from a neutral range mode to a drive running mode under the synchronous control of a first motor-generator MG1 and/or a second motor-generator MG2.

    【課題】中立段状態から駆動走行状態への切換が行なわれる場合に、切換ショックの発生が抑制されるハイブリッド車両を提供する。【解決手段】車両停止時或いは走行時において中立段状態から車両の駆動走行状態への要求があったときには、前記複数の係合要素のうちの1つの係合要素の係合に応じてハイブリッド走行モード或いは電動機走行モードが選択される。エンジン12の作動状態では、電気的無段変速機として機能するハイブリッド走行モードでエンジン回転数との整合が容易で係合ショックの発生が小さい変速比とされ、エンジン12の非作動状態では、エンジン12との回転数整合の必要のない電動機走行モードで、第1電動機MG1及び/又は第2電動機MG2による同期制御下で中立段モードから駆動走行モードへの切り換え時の係合ショックの発生が好適に抑制される。【選択図】図1
