PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To start power supply by connecting battery power sources in parallel while sufficiently suppressing an inrush current even if there is a voltage difference between the battery power sources in the case where a battery power source such as a lithium battery with an extremely small internal resistance value is used.SOLUTION: An electric propulsion system includes: a plurality of main cable runs supplying power from battery power sources B1 and B2 through main cable run switches SW1 and SW2 to propulsion motors M1 and M2; and a plurality of auxiliary machinery cable runs supplying power from the battery power sources through auxiliary machinery cable run switches SW3, SW4, SW7 and SW8 to auxiliary machinery. A power supply method of the electric propulsion system includes: inserting and connecting diodes D1 and D2 for preventing an inrush current between the battery power sources that may be generated when the battery power sources are connected in parallel via the auxiliary machinery cable run, to each of the auxiliary machinery cable runs, respectively; and, before starting supplying power to the propulsion motors by connecting the battery power sources in parallel via the main cable run, starting supplying power to the auxiliary machinery by connecting the battery power sources in parallel via the auxiliary machinery cable runs, such that the voltage difference between the battery power sources is reduced within an allowable range.
