PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring device for the residual capacity of a battery, which is able to monitor a battery state even when a vehicle ignition is off, on another communication network capable of communicating during an ignition-off period of the vehicle, when a battery sensor or the like, which detects a battery state, belongs on a communication network capable of communication only during an ignition-on period of the vehicle.SOLUTION: A monitoring device for a residual capacity of a battery comprises: a battery sensor that belongs to an IG system network capable of communicating only during an ignition-on period of a vehicle and that monitors a residual capacity of the battery; and a battery sensor on a network different from the IG system network. In response to the result of monitoring the residual capacity of the battery, each of the battery sensors alters a bus voltage on the IG system network. Based on the bus voltage on the IG system network, the ECU acquires information about the residual capacity of the battery.
