PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating a road surface state by accurately determining whether a large input is in a tire or not without increasing the number of sensors.SOLUTION: A method for estimating a road surface state includes: arranging an acceleration sensor in a tire to detect vibration of a running tire; estimating a stepping-on point position, and a treading point position of the tire from a peak position appearing in a time change wave form of vibration; using one or a plurality of a grounding time, a grounding exclusion time, and a rotation time of the tire, calculated from the estimated stepping-on point position and treading point position, and performing stepping/treading position determination for determining whether the estimated stepping-on point position and treading point position are real stepping-on point position and treading point position or not; and not estimating a road surface state in the case where a determination result of the stepping/treading position determination is a wrong estimation.

    【課題】センサーの数を増やすことなく、タイヤに大入力があったか否かを精度よく判定して路面状態を推定する方法を提供する。【解決手段】タイヤに加速度センサーを配置して、走行中のタイヤの振動を検出し、振動の時間変化波形に出現するピーク位置から、タイヤの踏み込み点の位置と蹴り出し点の位置とを推定するとともに、推定された踏み込み点の位置と蹴り出し点の位置とから算出されたタイヤの接地時間、接地外時間、及び、回転時間のいずれかまたは複数を用いて、推定された踏み込み点の位置と蹴り出し点の位置が実際の踏み込み点の位置と蹴り出し点の位置であるか否かを判定する踏み蹴り位置判定を行い、踏み蹴り位置判定の判定結果が誤推定である場合には、路面状態の推定を行わないようにした。【選択図】図5
