PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack pinion type steering device which can reduce the generation of tooth hammering noise caused by wear at an engagement part or the like between rack teeth and pinion teeth for long period of time.SOLUTION: A rack pinion type steering device 1 which comprises: a pinion shaft 2 connected with a steering shaft at one side; a rack shaft 3; a rack guide mechanism 8 which energizes the rack shaft 3 toward the pinion shaft 2; and a housing 4; further comprises: a first rolling bearing 16 and a second rolling bearing 17 which rotatably support shaft parts 2b, 2c at one side and the other side which sandwich pinion teeth 2a of the pinion shaft 2 toward the housing 4; and a second energization member 20 having a cylinder part 21 which is formed into a cylindrical shape while annularly winding a plate material, and a spring part 22 which extends to the outside of a radial direction from both end parts 21a of the cylinder part 21. The cylinder part 21 is externally fit to an external peripheral face of the second rolling bearing 17, and the spring part 22 abuts on the housing 4, and energizes the pinion shaft 2 toward the rack shaft 3.

    【課題】長期にわたって、ラック歯とピニオン歯との噛み合い部等での摩耗による歯打ち音の発生を低減することができるラックピニオン式ステアリング装置を提供する。【解決手段】一方側にステアリングシャフトが連結されたピニオン軸2と、ラック軸3と、ラック軸3をピニオン軸2に向けて付勢するラックガイド機構8と、ハウジング4とを備えるラックピニオン式ステアリング装置1において、ピニオン軸2のピニオン歯2aを挟む一方側と他方側の軸部2b,2cを、それぞれハウジング4に対して回転自在に支持する第1転がり軸受16及び第2転がり軸受17と、板材を環状に巻いて円筒状に形成された円筒部21と円筒部21の両端部21aから径方向外側に延出するばね部22とを有する第2付勢部材20と、を備え、円筒部21は第2転がり軸受17の外周面に外嵌され、ばね部22はハウジング4に当接してピニオン軸2をラック軸3に向けて付勢する。【選択図】図1
