PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect thoroughly and promptly movable bodies in a photographic image.SOLUTION: If photographic images are obtained at predetermined time intervals, movable bodies are detected from peripheral areas on both sides of each photographic images in a horizontal direction and from a central area thereof. In the peripheral areas, the movable body shown small (first movable body) and the movable body shown large (second movable body) are detected. In the central area, the first movable body is detected while the second movable body is detected only if the second movable body is detected in the peripheral areas of the previous photographic image. In most cases, the second movable body shown in the central area results from moving of the movable body shown in the peripheral areas. It is thereby possible to prevent unnecessary detection of the second movable body in the central area and promptly detect the movable bodies.

    【課題】撮影画像に写った移動体を、漏れなく且つ迅速に検出する。【解決手段】所定の時間間隔で撮影画像が得られると、撮影画像の左右方向両側の周辺領域、および中央領域のそれぞれから移動体を検出する。ここで、周辺領域については、小さく写った移動体(第1移動体)と、大きく写った移動体(第2移動体)とを検出する。中央領域については第1移動体を検出するが、第2移動体は、前回の撮影画像の周辺領域で第2移動体が検出されていた場合に検出する。中央領域に第2移動体が写るのは周辺領域に写っていた移動体が移動して来た場合がほとんどである。従って、こうすれば、中央領域で無駄に第2移動体を検出することが無くなるので、迅速に移動体を検出することができる。【選択図】図7
