PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hood elevation mechanism which elevates an entire hood during a collision without providing multiple actuators.SOLUTION: A hood elevation mechanism 1 includes: a hood 2; a rotary shaft 11a; a slide member 11 which supports the hood 2 through the rotary shaft 11a and is provided so as to move relative to a vehicle body in a vertical direction; a latch mechanism 30 which engageably holds a striker 4; a movable base 23 which holds the latch mechanism 30; a fixed base 22 which holds the movable base 23 so that the movable base 23 may move relative to the vehicle body in the vertical direction; a compression coil spring which biases the movable base 23 in an upper direction relative to the vehicle body; an operation shaft 21 which holds the movable base 23 at the lower side of a predetermined range in the vertical direction; an actuator 40 which moves the hood 2 to the upper side according to a detection result of a collision detection part 50; and a power transmission part 60 which transmits power produced by the actuator 40 to the operation shaft 21 to release holding of the movable base 23.
