An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) 1002 to inspect and monitor electrical power transmission lines including measurement of S- parameters of a magnetic field to determine the permittivity of a medium, e.g. insulator, surrounding a transmission line. The UAV may have transducer assembly array of helical coils. The transducers may operate in a resonator mode and an inductor mode. The transducers may be selectively operated via a switch between the resonator mode or the inductor mode. Also a method for detecting corona discharges, a method of detecting faulty insulators by comparing current flowing on either side of an insulator, and a method of harvesting wireless energy from a transmission line using the UAV.
