A method for realizing accelerated watertight compartmentation during the construction of a container ship utilising a water-resistant cover comprises following the steps of: completing the manufacture of the ship frame; fixing plate to the front and rear ends of the ship frame; installing a water-resistant cover to the semi-completed hull of the ship, where the lower end of the water-resistant cover extends beneath the semi-completed hull below the outer bottom plating and is fixed, the edges of the water-resistant cover extending upwards adjacent to the sides of the semi-completed hull and are fixed; once the water blocking cover is installed and fixed, a liquid level meter is arranged inside the semi-completed ship hull and records the liquid level to detect liquid level change inside the semi-completed ship hull in real time. Applying the water-resistant cover to the semi-completed ship hull allows the semi-completed ship to be removed from the dry dock earlier than if the hull is to be fully completed to allow construction of the next ship to be started earlier.
