The arrangement 5 comprises a circuit breaker 10, a disconnector or contactor switch 20, a first signal line 30 running from the breaker 10 to the switch 20, a first current connection line (33) and a first power port (35). The circuit breaker 10 comprises a first and a second breaker terminal 11,12. The switch 20 comprises a first and a second contact terminal 21, 22. The first current connection line 33 is coupled to the first breaker terminal 11 and to the first contact terminal 21. The load power port 35 is coupled to the first current connection line 33. Upon detecting a fault, the battery management unit 40 passes a control signal 32 to the circuit breaker 10. The circuit breaker 10 passes signal to the switch 20. The breaker 10 and the switch may open simultaneously or in a delayed fashion. The invention is intended for use with electric vehicles and is said to simplify installation.
