Method of determining a manoeuvre constraint (e.g. operational envelope) for an AV in a known scenario 76, by iteratively applying various dynamic parameters in a simulation 102 of the known scenario 76, and identifying the maximum dynamic parameter possible without any infractions/violation 104 (e.g. safety hazard, collision, harsh braking, etc). The dynamic parameters may be speed, velocity, acceleration, deceleration, jerk, etc. The descriptor of the known scenario may be a multivariate distribution vector of a bottleneck of a variational autoencoder (VAE), from which a decoder 100 may reconstruct the known scenario. The dynamic parameters may be iteratively incremented/decremented in the simulation at predefined interval, until the modulation of parameters have run out 106. If it has run out, then a minimum risk manoeuvre MRM is triggered 114.
