A vehicle comprising a left lower support wheel 210 to engage a left lower running surface 450, a right lower support wheel 310 to engage a right lower running surface (550, fig 2), a left upper cantilever wheel 230 and a right upper cantilever wheel 330 which each have an engaged position where they bear against an upper left guide surface 430 and an upper right guide surface (530, fig 2) respectively, and retracted positions where they are disengaged from their respective guide surfaces, a left lower cantilever wheel 250 and a right lower cantilever wheel 350 which have an engaged position where they bear against a lower left guide surface 450 and a lower right guide surface (550, fig 2) respectively, and retracted positions where they are disengaged from their respective guide surfaces. In a first mode the lower left support wheel, upper left cantilever wheel, and lower left cantilever wheel are engaged. In a second mode the lower right support wheel, the right upper cantilever wheel and right lower cantilever wheel are engaged. In a third mode the lower left support wheel, lower right support wheel, lower left cantilever wheel, and lower right cantilever wheel are engaged. The vehicle is configured to navigate between first mode and second mode at junctions offering both options by electing different combinations of wheel engagement and disengagement.
