A robot includes a frame, wheel, braking unit, electromagnet, trigger, and cable. The braking unit includes a brake pad and a spring that urges the brake pad towards a braking surface of the wheel. The trigger is pivotally connected relative to the electromagnet and includes a magnetic surface. The cable is connected to the first braking unit and routed to the trigger. When the electromagnet is energized, the trigger is retained against the electromagnet and pulls the cable which pulls the brake pad away from the braking surface. When the electromagnet is de-energized, the trigger is released from the electromagnet as the spring is allowed to extend which pushes the brake pad against the braking surface and pulls the cable which pulls the trigger pivotally away from the electromagnet.
