An underwater tool 5 comprises a grabber arrangement 15 and a cutter arrangement 20 that are connected together. The grabber arrangement may comprise a plurality of grabber elements 30 disposed on first and second sides of the tool. The cutter arrangement may comprise a cutter slot (75, Fig 3), an anvil (80, Fig 7) movable to close the cutter slot and a cutter blade (90, Fig 8). In use, a cable 10 is held by the grabber means and therefore moved into the slot which is then closed by the anvil so as to entrap the cable within the slot. The cutter blade is then driven against the anvil so as to cut the cable.
