A location device that wirelessly transmits the real time location of a vulnerable road user e.g. cyclist, workman, horses, pedestrians; or an emergency vehicle, having GNSS device and two transmitters. The GPS position is transmitted via the internet (mobile broadband) and Bluetooth (RTM), and informs drivers of vehicles within the vicinity of vulnerable road users. The location data is received by the drivers satellite navigation device or App, and displayed as an icon on a map. An audible warning may be provided if the vulnerable road user or response vehicle is close to the vehicle. A sat nav device may also record the location of a vulnerable user and share the data on the internet, and/or rebroadcast the data e.g. via Wi-Fi (RTM) to other road users in the vicinity, allow location data to be disseminated when there is no mobile broadband. The location device may be attached to a bicycle, and may have a mobile broadband connection (3G (RTM)) or be connected to a users smartphone that transmits the location of the vulnerable road user. When the location details are transmitted via Bluetooth, the published device name is encoded with the real time location details of the device.
