A motor which can be used as a frictionless electric brake by reversing the polarity to cause a retardation in rotor speed as well as stopping the rotor completely. The motor uses the properties of attraction and repulsion to create motion and these properties can be inverted to induce a slowing of rotor speed. A Hall Effect sensor can be used in the application to enact this change. The design contains opposite pairs of permanent magnets as well as a pattern of energized coils or windings to create rotation.
