A vehicle brake cooling system 100 includes a duct 174 for directing a primary air flow 168 towards the brake 122, and a higher velocity and pressure secondary air flow 148 introduced onto a surface of the duct by a nozzle to amplify or induce an increased flow rate in the primary air flow. The secondary air flow may be from a ram-air inlet 156 at the vehicle front, or compressor or accumulator. The duct 174 may have an annular body with a central bore and a ring nozzle (188, fig 10) and converging and diverging sections, or a channel with a slot nozzle (44, fig 1) across the width directing the secondary air flow stream on to the surface of the bore to use a Coanda effect. Primary air can come from an under-tray 124, and the system feed a dirt shield 170. Air deflectors 152 may also be used.
