A steep configuration riser comprising an elongate flexible riser element 38 including a hogbend portion 20 and an anchoring support 26 comprising a guide formation 28 arranged to capture the riser element by movement relative to the riser element. When positioned on the seabed 12, the anchoring support anchors the riser element in a steep configuration. Also disclosed is a method of use, where the riser element is installed, the riser element is then captured in the guide formation and the anchoring support is then moved to a final position on the seabed. The anchoring support may include a ballast tank and may be winched into position. The anchoring support may be held in position by engaging with a subsea structure. A closure element may be added to the guide element once the riser is captured to enclose the riser.
