A drive system (20, fig. 3) for a floor cleaner, comprising a motor (50, fig. 3) and a cooling fan 41 longitudinally disposed with respect to one another within a longitudinally extending drive housing (22, fig. 3). The drive output of the motor is configured to drive the cooling fan via a driveshaft (51, fig. 3) and a drive connector which comprises a fan-side connector element 43 and a motor-side connector element 45. The fan-side connector element is configured to interlock with the motor-side connector element. The fan-side and/or motor-side connector element may comprise a resiliently deformable material. The interlocking connector elements help to decouple the fan from the motor and therefore help to reduce the transmission of shocks and impacts of the fan. The drive system may also comprise a diffuser 42 located between the fan and motor. The centre of rotation of the cooling fan may be offset from a central axis of the diffuser.
