A seatback for an aircraft seat is described that includes an energy absorbing device for allowing the seatback to move from a first position to a second position when a force is applied to an upper region of the seatback. The seatback includes a guide for guiding movement of the seatback between a first position and a second position. A first connector for connecting the energy absorbing device to a seat back of an aircraft seat and a second connector for connecting the energy absorbing device to a frame or reclining mechanism of the aircraft seat are engaged by a destructible member, the destructible member is configured to be destructed when a predetermined force is applied to move the first connector away from the second connector. Seats and rows of seats including the seatback are also described.
