Vehicle system for use in a vehicle, including a vehicle cabin defined, at least in part, by an upper cabin surface, a lower cabin surface and a side wall, the vehicle cabin having a seat (60) adjacent to the side wall, and an air flow system comprising at least one air vent (90) disposed in at least one of the upper cabin surface and the lower cabin surface, an airflow apparatus (28) configured to direct an airflow through the at least one air vent (90), wherein the at least one air vent (90) is configured to generate an airflow across the side wall so as to generate a thermal curtain (84) across the side wall, and a control system comprising one or more controllers configured to receive a seat signal relating to whether or not the vehicle seat (60) is occupied, generate a control signal to control the airflow through the at least one air vent (90) in dependence on the seat signal, and output the control signal so as to generate the thermal curtain (84) across the side wall if the seat (60) adjacent to the side wall is occupied.
