This is a device (46) for controlling a semiautomatic gearbox (2) for a hybrid motor vehicle comprising an electric traction motor machine (8) and an internal combustion engine (4), the said gearbox (2) allowing two distinct gear ratios (EV1, EV2) for purely electric propulsion, comprises means (78) for measuring the speed(VVEH)of the vehicle and a map (52) in which are stored values of gear ratio as a function of measured vehicle speed (VVEH) and of a load (ε) to be supplied to a differential of the vehicle. It further comprises a system (54) for configuring the gearbox (2) in a situation of shifting from a first purely electric gear ratio (EV1, EV2) to a second purely electric propulsion gear ratio (EV2, EV1), the said configuration system (54) comprising a first control module (56) capable of commanding the turning-over of the internal combustion engine (4), a second control module (58) capable of engaging a transition gear ratio (TH2) in which the internal combustion engine (4) is mechanically connected to the said differential, and a third control module (60) capable of modifying the supply of power to the electric traction machine (8).
