The invention relates to a sensor arrangement (10) for the passenger compartment (12) in a motor vehicle (14). The sensor arrangement (10) comprises a reference object (16), a reference electrode (18), a touch surface (20) arranged at a distance from the reference object (16) and a touch electrode (22) arranged in the region of the touch surface (20). The vehicle user (26) who is in the passenger compartment (12) influences a field and/or a measurable capacitance and/or inductance formed between the electrodes (18, 22) by touching the touch surface (20). The field (24) may be characterized by various physical parameters, specifically by a capacitance and/or by an inductance. The invention also discloses a method for detecting the behaviour of a vehicle user (26) who is in the passenger compartment (12) in a motor vehicle (14). The vehicle user (26) remains in the region of a field (24) or enters the field (24) at least in part as a result of his presence in the passenger compartment (12).
