Provided is a door opening and closing mechanism of an entrance of an aircraft lavatory unit that is advantageous in improving the user-friendliness of the lavatory by reducing erroneous operation of the door while preventing the transmission of novel coronavirus in an interior. A powered door opening mechanism (34) includes an outdoor non-contact sensor (36A) provided outside a lavatory (1002) and configured to detect in a non-contact manner operation of a person holding a hand over the outdoor non-contact sensor (36A), a human detecting sensor (38) configured to detect the presence of a person inside the lavatory (1002), an actuator (44) configured to move a door (20), and a control unit (48) configured to control the actuator (44). The control unit (38) causes, in a case where the human detecting sensor (38) detects nothing, the actuator (44) to move the door (20) from the closed position to the open position when the outdoor non-contact sensor (36A) detects a person.
