Aircraft air cycle machines include a housing (88) defining a motor cavity (310), a shaft (84) arranged within the housing, a turbine (22) operably coupled to the shaft and arranged within the housing, a compressor (20) operably coupled to the shaft and arranged within the housing, and a motor (314) arranged within the motor cavity, wherein the motor comprises a motor stator assembly (318) fixedly connected to the housing and a motor rotor assembly (316) rotationally coupled to the shaft.
