The present invention relates to a mechanical device to be connected in series or in parallel to a structure to be protected from dynamic stresses so as to vary the mechanical features of the system and control the general dynamic behavior. In fact, such a device represents a new multi-purpose rheological element which can be employed in various applications including : (1) vibration isolation, (2) vibration absorption, (3) shock absorption, (4) energy dissipation, (5) other applications based on rheological force-movement behavior (energy harvesting, sensors and actuators).
