The masterbatch contains 13-130 parts by mass of hydrophilic fumed silica and 1-40 parts by mass of a silane coupling agent with respect to 100 parts by mass of a diene-based rubber. The rubber composition for tires contains 5-90 parts by mass of hydrophilic fumed silica and 1.5-30 parts by mass of a silane coupling agent with respect to 100 parts by mass of a diene-based rubber. The method for producing a masterbatch comprises a step for kneading a diene-based rubber, hydrophilic fumed silica, and a silane coupling agent using a kneader.
