The disclosure relates to a method for operating an electric vehicle. The method comprises receiving an information about an upcoming speed reduction (S1) and determining a release position or a release time at which a drive pedal of the electric vehicle is to be released, such that at a position corresponding to the speed reduction the electric vehicle travels at a speed corresponding to the speed reduction (S2). Moreover, a first notification position is determined for providing a first notification signal concerning the release of the drive pedal (S3). Alternatively or additionally a first notification time is determined for providing a first notification signal concerning the release of the drive pedal (S3). Furthermore, a data processing system is presented. The data processing system comprises data processing means for carrying out the above method. Additionally, an electric vehicle comprising such a data processing system is explained. Also, a corresponding computer program product and a corresponding computer-readable medium are shown.
