The invention relates to a method for coordinating vehicles in a vehicle group during emergency braking, wherein a setpoint acceleration for the respective vehicle is specified as a function of an emergency braking request (zNSoll), wherein in order to implement the emergency braking request in the respective vehicle of the vehicle group in an AEBS cascade (K) at least – a first warning phase (K1) for visually and/or acoustically warning the driver of the respective vehicle of the group of vehicles and – an emergency braking phase (K3) for braking the respective vehicle of the group of vehicles as a function of the emergency braking request (zNSoll) are provided taking into account the setpoint jolt (jiSoll) at an emergency braking time (tNi), wherein for at least one vehicle a haptic warning phase (K2) is provided at a haptic time (tHi), in which warning phase (K2) the respective vehicle is continuously decelerated with an intermediate acceleration. According to the invention there is provision that the haptic time (tHi) for initiating the haptic warning phase (K2) and/or the setpoint jolt (jiSoll) for implementing the emergency braking request (zNSoll) in the emergency braking phase are defined in a vehicle-specific fashion.
