An inverter unit 1 of a permanent magnet synchronous motor 4 has: a voltage generation device 3 that outputs a voltage to the permanent magnet synchronous motor 4; and a control unit 2 that controls the output voltage of the voltage generation device on the basis of a torque command value. The control unit 2 performs coasting control for controlling the voltage generation device 3 to output a voltage for suppressing an induced voltage of the permanent magnet synchronous motor 4 to the permanent magnet synchronous motor 4 when inflow of a current from the permanent magnet synchronous motor 4 to the voltage generation device side is detected while control of an output stop of a driving voltage for driving the permanent magnet synchronous motor 4 is performed. During the coasting control, the control unit 2 sets the torque command value to a coasting control time torque command value which is a positive value corresponding to the increase of a rotational frequency of the permanent magnet synchronous motor 4.
