The stators (81) are attached to the shaft, and the rotors (82) are attached to the elevator car. The rotors on an elevator car (5) comprise at least one second rotor (82a). The second rotor (82b) is arranged for movement relative to the elevator car (5) between a first position and a second position on the elevator car. In the first position, if the elevator car is arranged in the first lane, movement of the second rotor (82b) in the lateral direction (Q) is prevented. In the second position, if the elevator car (5) is arranged in the first lane, movement of the second rotor (82b) in the lateral direction (Q) is allowed.
