It is proposed that, if two signal ranges (S1, S2) of two active RFID transponders (19, 20) arranged in succession in the supply direction (Z) in the supply region (3) are detected by means of a passive RFID transponder (10) arranged on the object (1), the object (1) is switched to an electronically inactive or active state with the aid of a switch-off or switch-on signal generated by the passive RFID transponder (10) if the two signal ranges (S1, S2) are detected in succession in or counter to the supply direction (Z). In addition, if the two signal ranges (S1, S2) are successively detected, an item of target region information stored in the passive RFID transponder (10) is compared with an item of target region information relating to the supply region (3), wherein the supply of the object (1) to the target region (2) is stopped if the respective items of target region information do not correspond.
