The device (1) according to the invention or the system comprises preferably at least one charging apparatus (4) for the time-offset charging of a plurality of electric vehicles (2) connected simultaneously to the device (1) or to the system, the charging apparatus (4) having a charging station (6) for providing a charging current and the charging apparatus (4) having a current-providing apparatus, and comprises at least one connection apparatus (10) for connecting the plurality of electric vehicles (2), the connection apparatus (10) having a first input/output unit (12) and a second input/output unit (16) connected to the first input/output unit by means of a circuit assembly (14), the second input/output unit (16) having at least two connection plugs (18) each for connecting an electric vehicle (2) and/or a further connection apparatus (11), each connection plug (18) serving to establish a data connection and/or power connection between the electric vehicle (2) connected thereto and the current-providing apparatus, the current-providing apparatus having the effect that the charging station (6) provides the charging current preferably continuously to the connection apparatus (10) and the charging station supplies the charging current to exactly one connection plug (18) in accordance with at least one predefined control parameter, by controlling the circuit assembly (14).
