A flight system (300) for an aircraft (10) and method for controlling a clearance between a first rotor disk (28) and a second rotor disk (32) of an aircraft is disclosed. The flight system (300) includes a sensor for measuring an angle of deviation (320a, 320b) of at least one of a first rotor disk (28) and a second rotor disk (32) of the aircraft to indicate a clearance between the first rotor disk (28) and the second rotor disk (32) as well as sensors (320c, 320d) for measuring a flight condition of the aircraft (10). A control allocation module (306) uses the measured angle of deviation (320a, 320b) and the flight condition of the aircraft to determine an allocation of control settings to axis-controlling devices of the aircraft to attain a selected pitch of the aircraft (10), wherein the allocation is based at least on the measured angle of deviation (320a, 320b) and the flight state of the aircraft.
