A steering column (1) for a motor vehicle comprising a steering shaft (2) rotatably mounted in a casing unit (3) and comprising a holding unit (5) directly or indirectly enclosing the casing unit (3), for connecting the casing unit (3) to the motor vehicle, wherein the holding unit (5) is formed as a hybrid component and has two side parts (5a, 5d), which each in turn comprise side frames (5c, 5d), and function elements, and wherein the function elements are connection sections to the motor vehicle or to the casing unit (3), wherein the hybrid component has at least one insertion element (12a, 12b, 13a, 13b) which is added to the hybrid component using plastic, wherein the insertion element (12a, 12b, 13a, 13b) forms at least one function element.
