The invention relates to a hybrid metal-composite drive shaft unit (6), which comprises at least one metal drive shaft connector (10) that is at least partly embedded into a composite drive shaft (6a), said composite drive shaft (6a) comprising a thermoplastic polymer and being connected to said at least one metal drive shaft connector (10) by means of a welded connection (6d) that defines a first load path for transmission of loads between said at least one metal drive shaft connector (10) and said composite drive shaft (6a), said at least one metal drive shaft connector (10) and said composite drive shaft (6a) comprising, in the region of said welded connection (6d), at least partly a polygonal cross-sectional shape for forming a form-fit connection that defines a second load path for transmission of loads between said composite drive shaft (6a) and said at least one metal drive shaft connector (10).
