The present invention relates to a method of keeping brakes of a vehicle comprising a GPS system and being equipped with a brake-by-wire de-coupled brake system in good condition. The method comprises the steps of: a) determining whether a brake disc wiping needs to be performed based on information obtained from the GPS system, b) optionally waiting for a suitable moment for performing the brake disc wiping by waiting until a predefined condition is satisfied, and c) when the predefined conditions is satisfied, performing the brake disc wiping. Specific embodiments are disclosed for the situation where the car is at a car wash facility, or at a parking facility, or is equipped with connected vehicle technology.
