A mechanical linear actuator (100) in an aircraft brake may include a ball nut, a ball screw (120; 220; 300; 400), and an actuator drive unit housing (140; 240). The ball screw (120; 220; 300; 400) may rotate to drive the ball nut axially. The ball screw (120; 220; 300; 400) and the actuator drive unit housing (140; 240) may form a series of annular raceways (160; 260). The ball screw (120; 220; 300; 400) may have a first window (228; 321; 421) corresponding to a first raceway (160; 260) and a second window (322; 422) corresponding to a second raceway (160; 260). Balls may be inserted into the first raceway (160; 260) through the first window (228; 321; 421) and into the second raceway (160; 260) through the second window (322; 422).
