A device for performing open-loop and closed-loop control of speeds of a light electric vehicle, in particular of an electric bicycle, comprising an influencing means for influencing a speed unit for an electric motor of the electric vehicle to close and/or to open, a first signal transmitting means for transmitting signals of the movement of a wheel, in particular for magnetic fields, with movement magnetic signals, wherein the first signal transmission means comprises, in particular, a permanent magnet, a second signal transmission means for time-dependent signals which are designed to correspond to movements of the first signal transmission means, and/(or) a booster means which makes available boost signals for boosting the signals of the second signal transmission means, in particular a magnet means with magnetic field lines which are parallel to the signals of the second signal transmission means and have the same orientation, with the result that a switching profile of the reception means which arises from the resulting field strengths essentially at the location of the reception means, wherein during the influencing of the speed unit the limiting speed can be exceeded by means of a real speed of the speed unit for an electric motor of the light electric vehicle as a result of the influencing means.
