The invention discloses a low-power-consumption sentry monitoring method for an intelligent cabin and the intelligent cabin, and relates to the technical field of intelligent automobiles. A system-on-chip of the intelligent cabin comprises a first core and a second core, and the operation power consumption of the second core is lower than that of the first core. The method comprises the steps that when a vehicle flames out, operation of the hard disk video recorder is stopped, a second core takes over the use permission of a camera outside the vehicle to collect images of the surrounding environment regularly, whether the surrounding environment changes or not is monitored, and after it is monitored that the surrounding environment changes, the second core is switched back to a first core to operate the hard disk video recorder; after the hard disk video recorder records the video of the preset duration, the hard disk video recorder is turned off, the first core is switched to the second core, whether the surrounding environment changes or not is monitored again, and power consumption of sentry mode operation after vehicle flameout is reduced.
