The method comprises the steps that the current running speed of the vehicle is obtained, the current working conditions of the vehicle are determined according to the current running speed, the current working conditions comprise the high-speed working condition and the non-high-speed working condition, and the vehicle at least comprises a motor and a generator; under the condition that the current working condition is a high-speed working condition and the current driving speed is greater than or equal to a first preset speed, allowing the motor to perform energy recovery; under the condition that the current working condition is a high-speed working condition and the current running speed is smaller than a first preset speed, the current gradient is obtained, and the current gradient represents the gradient of a current road where the vehicle is located; and when the current gradient is greater than or equal to the preset gradient, allowing the motor to perform energy recovery, and when the current gradient is less than the preset gradient, forbidding the motor to perform energy recovery. By means of the method, the vehicle control system can autonomously select the appropriate energy recovery strategy according to the working conditions, and energy recovery and driving experience are guaranteed.
