The invention discloses an elevator falling buffering system and method, and relates to the technical field of elevator protection.The elevator falling buffering system comprises at least two hydraulic supporting rods arranged on the wall of an elevator shaft, a controller, a relay, a speed sensor and an elevator car; the real-time descending speed during descending of the elevator car is monitored through the speed sensor, and the relay is controlled to be started through the controller according to the real-time descending speed, so that the electromagnetic coil is in a power-on state; and the hydraulic supporting rods are controlled to stretch out, so that electromagnetic coils arranged on the hydraulic supporting rods are perpendicular to the wall of the elevator shaft, the descending speed of the elevator car during falling is reduced through the hydraulic supporting rod sets, and the elevator car stably falls on the hydraulic supporting rod sets. By means of the scheme, the descending speed of the elevator in the stall falling process is effectively slowed down, the situation that personal safety of people is caused by counter-acting force generated by high-speed falling of the elevator is avoided, and the personal safety of people taking the elevator is guaranteed.
