The method comprises the steps that the wheel speed of each wheel of the double-rear-drive-axle commercial vehicle is obtained; calculating a wheel speed difference according to the wheel speed of each wheel of the commercial vehicle with the double rear drive axles; state data of the double-rear-drive-axle commercial vehicle are obtained; determining whether a differential protection function starting condition is met or not according to the wheel speed difference and the state data of the double-rear-drive-axle commercial vehicle; under the condition that the differential protection function starting condition is met, the road condition category is determined; determining a motor torque according to the wheel speed difference and the road condition category; and the commercial vehicle with the double rear drive axles is controlled according to the motor torque. The road condition category is determined after the differential protection function is started, and the motor torque is determined according to the road condition category and the wheel speed difference, so that the motor torque under the differential protection function better conforms to the current road condition, and the differential is effectively protected.
