The invention belongs to the technical field of engine cooling, and discloses a retarder cooling structure, a retarder cooling control method and an engine cooling system.The retarder cooling structure is used for being connected with a retarder, and the retarder is provided with a retarder cooling liquid inlet and a retarder cooling liquid outlet; the retarder cooling structure comprises a control valve, and the control valve is provided with a valve water inlet used for being connected with an engine cooling liquid outlet, a first water outlet used for being connected with a retarder cooling liquid inlet and a second water outlet used for being connected with a retarder cooling liquid outlet. The control valve has a first state and a second state, and when the control valve is in the second state, the cooling liquid can only flow out from the first water outlet, so that the retarder is cooled; when the control valve is in the first state, the cooling liquid can flow out from the first water outlet and the second water outlet, and part of the cooling liquid flows to the retarder to continuously cool the retarder; and the other part of the cooling liquid directly flows to a retarder cooling liquid outlet, so that the energy loss is reduced.
