The invention relates to an unmanned aerial vehicle safety monitoring method and system. The method comprises the steps of obtaining a flight route of an unmanned aerial vehicle; collecting a ground image in the route; acquiring flight information of the unmanned aerial vehicle; obtaining the current power consumption and the residual electric quantity of a main battery of the unmanned aerial vehicle; determining the endurance mileage of the unmanned aerial vehicle; and determining a safe flight strategy. Therefore, the flight efficiency and safety of the unmanned aerial vehicle are guaranteed.
