The method comprises the steps that a control module determines the traffic condition around a vehicle in real time; the control module detects the movement of the vehicle towards the traffic light and the intersection area; the control module determines the time used by the traffic light cycle; determining, by the control module, an average distance traveled by the vehicle during the traffic light period; and calculating, by the control module, a probability that the vehicle passes through the intersection region before the red signal of the traffic light cycle based on the average distance traveled by the vehicle, the intersection region information, and the length of the vehicle. The vehicle may be an autonomous vehicle (autonomous vehicle), a semi-autonomous vehicle, or a manually driven vehicle.
