The present disclosure relates to a method and system for monitoring spacing between aircraft. The method comprises the following steps: receiving data from a first aircraft and a second aircraft, wherein the data comprises space coordinates of the first aircraft and the second aircraft; calculating a distance between the first aircraft and the second aircraft based on the spatial coordinates; determining an approach speed between the first aircraft and the second aircraft based on a change in the distance; selecting different interval control models depending on the approach speed; and monitoring a distance between the first aircraft and the second aircraft based on the selected interval control model.
